Weather

Summer

The climate of Kanha National Park is extreme in nature and the temperature may rise to 43°C in summer months. The normal temperature fluctuates between 24 and 42°C. However, this warm season is excellent for seeing wild life since the animals are all in search of either water or prey or both. Light cotton clothes are best in such warm weather. Wear neutral colours or earthy colours as these are good for viewing wild life.

Monsoon

The monsoon period brings an abundance of rain. An average rain fall of 1800 mm is expected in Kanha National Park. The park is closed during the rainy season, from July till the middle of October since the roads generally get bogged down and it is very difficult to navigate during this period.

Winter

Winters in Kanha National Park tend to be very cold and the meadows are often covered by frost. One must wear woollens and thick jackets during this period especially when in an open jeep safari. Winters are good for touring around not only inside the park but also other nearby places where one can taste the local delicacies as well.
